This particular example was excavated in the area of the Selma Arsenal in Alabama
and looks to have been made from a trapdoor bayonet
All buttons are present as is the original ink stamp on the inside of the shirt
There are some small holes and pulling on the red field

This is a fine service used WWII period Mark 3 U. S. fighting knife, made by the very scarce maker, Kinfolks, Inc., and contained in an original M8 Scabbard. Of the 2,590,240 ordered by the U. S. Government, Kinfolks of Little Valley, NY produced only 119,702, and was definitely one of the minor contractors. The company still exists today, producing fine cutlery. This knife is later production, indicated by the maker
