Just purchased back from the estate of a longtime IMA customer, this is a very nice British EIC Saddle Ring carbine with a very nice "Twist steel" forged barrel. The style of the "EIC Lion" on the lock looks to indicate local manufacture in India under British supervision, though it is also just as possible that it was assembled using British made parts. The hammer in particular definitely looks to be of British
