Original U.S. 18th Century Continental Small Sword with Triangular Blade U.S. Edged Weapons giving a practical rate ofOriginal Item. One of a Kind. Here we have a fine 18th century small sword that some may incorrectly refer to as a rapier. This is almost certainly colonial or U. S. manufacture, and it features a gorgeous triangular blade with the hilt guard being ornately decorated brass. The wooden grip is still in fair shape, and the blade itself retains its shape without any serious dents. The crossguard lacks a handguard as many of these early small swords did.
