This is a great example of a Confederate copy of an Ames Model 1832 Artillery Short sword. This design of foot artillery sword has a straight, heavy double edged steel blade. There is one fuller, starting just below the hilt. The overall blade length is approximately 18''. The hilt and cross guard are cast and partly machined and sand cast brass.
